Women's Health Conversations We Should Normalize
By Dr. Koriang Hilder · 22 January 2026
Too many women grow up learning to whisper about their bodies. That silence costs us — in delayed diagnoses, unnecessary fear, and missed opportunities for early care.
Topics that deserve daylight
Healthy public conversation can include:
- Menstrual pain that affects school or work (not something to “just endure”)
- Contraception and reproductive planning without judgment
- Pregnancy questions and postpartum recovery
- Perimenopause and menopause symptoms
None of these are taboo in a clinician’s office. They should not be taboo in our communities either.
SRHR and informed choice
Sexual and reproductive health rights include access to accurate information and respectful care. Education empowers women to ask better questions and make informed decisions with their providers.
A note on online advice
Social media can spark important conversations — but it is not a clinic. Use online content to prepare questions, not to self-diagnose.
